As a boarder, hostel will become your daughter’s second home, which is why at Girls High, we believe that boarding should complement not replace family life. Our hostels are more than just places in which our girls live.
Here, characters are formed and lifelong friendships are born and nourished in a safe, stable, diverse and warm environment. As boarders, our girls are able to concentrate on their academic studies and simultaneously take full advantage of participating in our enriching extra-curricular programme.
Through boarding, our girls are provided with the tools to learn how to be more independent, resilient, considerate and ready to face life after school. There is nowhere better than Girls High to do that! Here, boarding-life is underpinned by our school’s values – pride, respect, integrity, diligence and empathy. Thus the fullness of the boarding experience fosters our girls’ development into becoming caring, communicative and engaged young women who, at every turn, enrich the world they enter.
Living on campus allows the girls the opportunity to participate in any number of sport, cultural and service-related activities. Boarders who participate in non-school activities are driven to and from these activities.
On weekends, boarders are transported to and from Gauteng by a reputable bus company.
Each of our four hostels is managed by a Senior Housemistress (SHM) and four Housemistresses (HM), all of whom live on site.
The senior housemistresses are responsible for boarders’ day-to-day routine and overall well-being. All our residential staff members are caring individuals who endeavour to make our girls feel comfortable about their boarding choice.
